Who is Brian Boyer
Stuart Scott once said, "He's as cool as the other side of the pillow".
I'm now convinced he was talking about Coach Brian Boyer, the head coach for the Arkansas State Lady Red Wolves. For over 19 years, 16 years as the head coach and 3 years as an assistant, Coach Boyer has led these amazing athletes on and off of the court. For 19 years, he has been a part of your family, and it's time you get to know a little more about him.

Arkansas State found its current leader in 1995 when he became an assistant coach at Arkansas State. It wasn't until 1999 when they realized they had their man and they've been behind him ever since. Previous stops before becoming an assistant at Arkansas State where the legacy of Brian Boyer started were spent at Missouri Western as an assistant coach. From 1989-1993 he was an assistant on the men's basketball team followed by a short stint with the women's team at Missouri Western from 1993-1995.
Boyer did not start his career at Arkansas State, but fans are glad he found his way here. He has cemented himself in Arkansas history as the all-time leader in career wins for men or women.
Boyer has tallied an overall record of 258-217. Does that sound impressive?
Coach Boyer was also the first coach to reach 200 victories in Arkansas State history and is one of only two in the Sun Belt Conference to reach this milestone. His 200th victory came on November 20, 2012 with an 84-71 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Coach Boyer is also the All-Time leader in Sun Belt Conference wins with over 137 and has compiled four 20+ win seasons. Accomplishments for Coach Boyer grow by the season, but one of the most impressive things about Coach Boyer is that he was recognized in 2012 as one of the 100 Outstanding Staff to Contribute to the success of Arkansas State during its first 100 years.
Boyer finds success with his athletes off the court, but his accomplishments on the court cannot be denied. As the longest tenured coach in Arkansas State history, he has made five WNIT appearances. He was voted Sun Belt Coach of the Year three different times, most recently in 2013-2014, along with the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons. Boyer was also the man leading the charge when Arkansas State played in front of the largest crowd in Arkansas State history with a record crowd of 10,892 people. Anyone remember that game? It ended with a 98-84 home victory over Arkansas in the 2004-2005 WNIT.

Boyer's team is off to an impressive 10-5 start after a heart breaking one point loss to Appalachian State on Thursday night. They look to get back on track against Texas State on Saturday at 3:05. Coach Boyer and his Lady Red Wolves deserve you being there to support them. They've gone to battle 15 times this year and you have the opportunity to come see the Lady Red Wolves six more times at home.
Coach Boyer has won 10 Sun Belt Conference games for the seventh time under his direction in 2012-2013. This year Coach Boyer has already compiled five conference victories and looks to extend his streak of 10 Sun Belt Conference victories on Saturday v. Texas State.
The Lady Red Wolves are preparing for a Sun Belt Conference run and hope to get into the Women's NCAA Tournament. Post season games are nothing new for Boyer and he'll look to lead his team into them again this season. The last post season appearance for the Lady Red Wolves was during the 2013-2014 season when they claimed the SBC Regular season championship for the second time in school history and made a WNIT appearance.
Brian Boyer will look to find similar success for the remainder of this season as he did during the 2012-2013 season when he went on a seven-game winning streak. That streak tied for the 6th longest in school history and he'll look to replicate that over the remainder of the games on this year's schedule.
So we know he has a lot of accomplishments, but what type of player does he coach? How about the 2013-2014 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year! Not only did he coach Aundrea Gamble last year to become the Player of the Year, but he's coaching her again this year and will have another chance next year to continue building on their success together. Coach Boyer has also coached 14 different players who have been named to the Sun Belt Conference All-Conference team. The five teams of ladies he coached to the WNIT came in the years 1999-2000,2003-2004, 2004-2005,2006-2007, and 2013-2014.

Four 20 win seasons as noted earlier, but also eight seasons of at least 16 wins
15-6 record in overtime games ( this man knows how to close out games)
Had a team in 1999-2000 that spent a week in the AP National Top 25 after a win at 20th ranked Kansas.
This was the first Division 1 Top 25 ranking by any sport at Arkansas State.
